The second-hand marketplace Members Express Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes

Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.

The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Modifications

Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Member Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Manual Updates

A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
