Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then located numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior representative commented the incident made him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
